My parents opened a grocery store in Montreal in 1965 and made fruit baskets on the side. They were known for their personal attention to every detail. In the mid-1980s, they decided to concentrate on baskets and changed their store to an exclusive basket shop (known as Alexander's Fruit Baskets and Alexander's Gift Baskets). Today, Alexander is still the great name in baskets and has become a one-stop home of gifts that look good and taste great.
Most people know us from our old location on Decarie Blvd. where we were for close to 35 years. Quebec language laws forced us to remove the English part of the name- the apostrophe and s.
We designed this website from a customer's perspective in order to make the online experience enjoyable: fun and easy to use, a variety of items yet easy choices within each category (as opposed to offering hundreds of items where you may never decide or, when you do, wonder after if it was the right one), no account or logging in necessary (it's an option), and free delivery in Montreal or a shipping discount upon Checkout on all website orders.
We also offer the baskets and some other gifts in a different manner than others; rather than list dozens of designs and prices, we display just two or three per category (say, a Classic Variety Basket) and then allow you to set the size/price and other options.
My father in the early 1980s. He had a hand in creating virtually every single basket made in his 40+ years. He had to work overnight to fill the store's first big order in the '60s- 10 baskets for a holiday. Things got quicker after that.

I grew up in this business....literally. As a kid I sometimes went to the store after school and took a nap on top of a stack of paper bags under the back work station. I look forward to continuing my parents' legacy by giving you the same high value, personal touch and beautiful creations that they were known for and what have made Alexander a great name.
